Who am I?
My
name is Jeroen, but my Bolivian friends call me
Jerónimo. If you speak English, you may call me
Jerome. I am from Holland, Europe. At a
South-American trip I simply fell in love with
Bolívia. There is so much to see in Bolivia, it's
incredible. The scenery in Bolivía is stunning. From
the crazy altitudes in the Andes (the city of
Potosí would lies at the same altitude as
Europe's highest mountains) to the lush and hot
Amazon region. You've got spectacular salt plains
at Uyuni, the beautiful Lake Titicaca, vulcano's,
condors, llama's, the hectic melting pot of La
Paz, the wonderful city of Potosi with it's Cerro
Rico, and much more. The climate in the Andes
region is great, because of the altitude it's
nice and warm in the sun, without ever getting
stinking hot. The Bolivians are such a friendly,
relaxed people. The culture, a mix of Spanish
colonial traditions and ancient pre-Columbian
customs is very open and very interesting. Most
young people are very modern. One of the nicest
things about Bolivia is that is not flooded with
mainstream tourists. This country is still very
pure. Sure, when you take the bus, you have to
count on a few flat tyres, but that's all right.
Travelling here is an adventure, yet it's one of
the safest countries I've ever been to.
I made this site for my friends in Tupiza, la
joya bella de Bolívia. The people from Hostal
Valle Hermoso work very hard. I regard them as my family. I'm sure you too will feel at home there. Tupiza is really
one of the best kept secrets in the world, the
most unspoiled spot about. If you want to see the
real Bolívia, far from the tourists, this is the
place to go!
